Patnitop is a hill retreat in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir and part of the Shivalik range. Situated at a height of around 2,024 meters above sea level, Patnitop is popular among honeymoon couples for its tranquil location and adventure sports like paragliding. The legend behind Patnitop is that the region had several ponds where the princess took bath and one such pond still exists close to the youth hostel here.

A part of the Lower Himalayan range, Patnitop has a soothing climate throughout the year. The Pir Panjal range forms a beautiful backdrop and the sunset views are even more mesmerizing. Bounded with hills and cedar forests, peaceful walks are just like an unforgettable dream to the honeymoon couples. Winters are special for the thick layer of snow facilitates skiing and nothing matches the natural splendor of the place.

How to Reach Patnitop


By Air :

Srinagar airport is the closest with flight services from New Delhi and Jammu.

By Train:

Udhampur is the nearest railway station to Patnitop. There are two trains running from New Delhi to Udhampur. There is also another station close to Pathankot known as Chakki Bank where several trains arrive.

By Road :

The Jammu-Srinagar Highway passes through Patnitop. It is a drive of around 112 km from Jammu and 35 km away from Udhampur. The journey from Jammu takes around 3 hours by bus.

Tourist Attractions around Patnitop

Eco adventures are fast taking off in Patnitop region. The place draws the adventure lovers in both summer and winter.

Paragliding – Paragliding is a sport to enjoy during the summer months and you can make your honeymoon an adventurous experience. Dawariyai is located around 2 km from Patnitop and is an important center for paragliding activities. It is situated on the Patnitop-Sanasar road. You will fly from this point to nearby Kud. Another takeoff for paragliders is from Natha Top to Kud and both flights will take around 10-15 minutes. The flight from Natha Top may last up to an hour, depending on the wind condition. Couples love the thrill in the air!.

Batote – Batote is another hill town perched at a height of 2,006 meters and situated on the Udhampur-Srinagar road. Its main attraction is the Chenab River that is popular for angling. The region also produces high-quality rajma or kidney beans.

Kud – Kud lies just before Patnitop and is 32 km from Udhampur town. The main reason to stop over here is the sweet shops selling the famous patisa, a crisp sweet with flaky texture, almost like soan papdi.
