Location

The Bandipur National Park is part of a huge forest that lies at the junction of Nilgiri Hills and Western Ghats. The national park actually falls within Chamarajanagar in the state of Karnataka. The forest reserve area once used to be the hunting grounds of the Mysore Maharajas. The Bandipur National Park abounds in a variety of wild animals and has more than 200 species of birds.

While taking a safari through the park you’ll be able to spot tigers (in case you’re lucky), elephants, wild boar, leopard, Indian civet, wild dogs, sloth bear, monitor lizards, crocodiles, sambars, chitals, striped neck mongoose, mouse deer, muntjacs, barasinghas, hyenas, porcupine, and jackals. You’ll also be able to spot a colourful array of exotic species of birds like the green pigeon, laughing jackass, honey buzzard, king vulture, bay owl, Malabar trogan, Nilgiri flowerpecker, and so on.
