Getting There

Tezpur is the closest railhead and also the major gateway to Tawang. One can head to Tawang from Tezpur either by jeeps or taxis. It takes about 12 hours to get to the hill-station and the ride is quite arduous as you encounter sharp turns and bends throughout the journey. You can proceed to Tezpur from Guwahati which is connected by rail to all principal cities and towns in India. Tezpur is connected by air with Kolkata and Guwahati.

Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to be in Tawang is from March to October when the weather is perfect with temperatures ranging between 5 degrees to 20 degrees centigrade. The days are sunny and the nights are cool.
